The legendary Beatbox Poet Jason Singh from London will headline this years ‘Hard Rain’ Poetry event for the Levenshulme Festival on Halloween night – Monday 31st October.

The ‘Hard Rain’ Poetry night t is a voluntary community project
which encourages local creative expression and is supported by Isis Café, on Stockport Road in Levenshulme village, where the monthly event is staged.

The event runs on the last monday of every month, 6pm- 8pmis a Poetry/ Creative writing workshop and then 8pm -10pm is the Poetry performance with open mic spots.

Everyone is welcome at this FREE event and guest musicians are welcome to perform alongside the Poets.

Jason Singh
Born in London and now based in Manchester, Jason’s work is rooted in the constant need to develop exciting creative experiences through performance and participation. He collaborates with art and media organisations to further develop Beatboxing as an art form of free expression which includes PRSF, National Portrait Gallery, BFI, Jaipur Literature Festival, V&A, BBC, and Whitworth Art Gallery. He has performed and exhibited work in theatre productions, festivals, club nights, radio, television, poetry events, art galleries and discussion panels around the world.

Being a prolific solo performer, he is also a keen musical collaborator and he has recorded and performed alongside musician and composer Nitin Sawhney. Jason’s past and present musical collaborations also include Susheela Raman, The Safires, Shivamani, Marco Fadda, Seb Rochford (Polar Bear), Arun Ghosh, and Stuart McCallum (Cinematic Orchestra).

Jason is a collaborative partner in a variety of projects across a range of creative disciplines including sound, music, dance, theatre and textiles and as well as completing artistic residencies in the UK, India and Australia, he is also the UK national advocate for the Sing Up programme and associate lecturer at the Manchester Metropolitan University.
