Dementia Cafe at St Mary's Parish Centre
The "Peter Quinn Friendship Group" at Saint Mary's, Levenshulme has opened a "Dementia Cafe" every Wednesday from 12.00 - 2.30, offering support, friendship and professional advide for dementia sufferers and their carers.
They host a free weekly Dementia Café, which offers people who live with the condition and their loved ones a fun and informal place to share their experiences, receive expert advice.
They also offer a free drop-in service for anyone who has concerns about their memory or the memory of a loved one or friend.
The group will meet every Wednesday from 10.00 am to 1.00pm in the Lounge area of the Parish Centre.
Marian Quinn from the centre said, "Our aim is to have a safe and happy environment for Dementia sufferers and their carers and an opportunity to meet regularly with other people with memory problems and a chance to exchange experiences and to give and receive emotional support. Each session aims to provide you with professional advice and information, gentle exercise and fun activities in a social atmosphere including refreshments. There will also be available Hand Massages, Nail Painting, Sing-a-longs, Playing Cards, Games, Chair Exercises, plus an Admiral Nurse will be available at least once a month for conversation and advice when necessary."
