Levenshulme Festival keeps business local

This year's 12th Levenshulme Festival is aiming to support local businesses by launching the area's "Keep Business Local" Campaign. The idea came after many local businesses reported a bad year's trading due not just to the recession, but also after businesses in the area were adversely affected for months on end due to roadworks.

Lawrence Hennigan, the President of the Festival said, "The festival is a huge opportunity to promote not just community spirit in Levenshulme, but also to give the area's business a much-needed leg-up. Our campaign, which will be launched at the festival aims to bring more shoppers into our village."

Lawrence is encouraging as many businesses to get on board, he said, "Levenshulme has a diversity of shops that many areas simply do not have. The 'Antique's Village' is unique to our area and brings in a lot of people. Levenshulme also has a number of specialist shops like 'Johnson's the Butchers', selling produce - directly from Ireland, our brand new 'Post Office Deli' and our unique 'Persian Rug' Shop plus many more. We want to promote our unique area.
